About me

Hello, I’m Rachael.

I’ve been proofreading, editing and writing for over 25 years. I’m also a knitter, crocheter, spinner, weaver and dyer. Textile and fashion history fascinates me, and I’m a huge fan of a well-written pattern.

For over 15 years I worked for charities and NGOs where, as a trust fundraiser, I used my writing skills to persuade and enthuse supporters. More recently, I’ve written articles and reviews for publications including The Knitter, Ply Magazine and The Journal for Weavers, Spinners & Dyers.

I studied South East Asian Studies at University, specialising in history, art, anthropology and language (Malay). This instilled in me a great love for language and a deep curiosity about human communication.

I’ve lived and worked all over the world, and am now based in Bristol with my family – my husband, two children and needy cat – where I spend as much time as possible eating cheese, knitting and playing board games.
